Sissili: Healthcare staff, authorities, and the public cleaned the Leo Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) this Saturday, August 30, 2025. This activity took place thanks to a citizen sanitation operation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, volunteers equipped with rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows took over the space of the Leo Medical Center with Surgical Antenna (CMA) on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to clean and sanitize this public health site.
Alongside health workers, administrative and municipal authorities, as well as active members of civil society and combat forces, mobilized to restore the place to its role as a sanctuary of care and dignity, thus demonstrating a collective commitment under the banner of unity.
The operation enabled the main courtyard to be weeded, the accumulated waste to be removed and the traffic areas to be marked out.
It provided the opportunity to raise awareness about recycling and basic hygiene for visitors and patients. Beyond cleaning, the event also provided a practical lesson in ecology for the public.
The DABARI YWANI association, which means "friendship is good" in the Nuni language, donated two metal bins and 40 liters of liquid soap, tools immediately made available to staff and users.
The planting of 30 trees in the center's grounds is a significant step towards providing shade, oxygen, and a lasting impact on environmental protection.
The District Chief Medical Officer (MCD), Abdou Aboubacary congratulated and thanked the participants.
"A clean environment is not an afterthought; it is the first step in welcoming patients and the first barrier against infection. Today, we have not only cleaned, we have sown the seeds of collective awareness," he said.
The MCD made a special mention of the Leo detachment for the remarkable mobilization of the FDS and VDP.
The organizers considered carrying out the operation in other health centers in the province.
