Sissili/Security: Chief Superintendent Noufou B©lem Takes Charge as Provincial Police Director

Sissili: Chief Superintendent of Police Noufou B©lem was officially installed as the Provincial Director of the National Police in Sissili Province during a ceremony presided over by High Commissioner T©wend© Isaac Sia.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in L©o, marking a significant step in ensuring continuity in the province's security management.

The ceremony, held in the high commission's meeting room in L©o, was attended by the Regional Director of the National Police of Nando, Salvador Bougma, alongside judicial, military, and paramilitary authorities, and representatives from various local organizations. High Commissioner Sia praised B©lem's dedication and professionalism during his tenure as interim director, noting progress in the province's stabilization and the resettlement of displaced populations.

Chief Superintendent B©lem acknowledged the trust placed in him by his superiors and outlined his strategic focus areas, which include enhancing operational intelligence, consolidating collaboration among Defense and Security Forces, and promoting community policing. He emphasized the importance of security as a fundamental freedom and called for integrity and discipline among his staff.

Regional Director Bougma encouraged the police force and other defense units to support B©lem's leadership, promoting the concept of "co-producing security" with citizen involvement in identifying and solving local security issues. This collaborative approach was echoed by civil society representatives like Azizou Yago, who highlighted the potential for improved dialogue and social cohesion under B©lem's leadership.

Judicial authorities, including Fran§ois Kabor©, President of the L©o High Court, stressed the DPPN's vital role in the justice system and urged the public to adhere to legal processes. The police staff spokesperson assured B©lem of their unwavering loyalty in addressing security challenges and ensuring peace in Sissili.
