SNC 2026/GPNAL: Sandbondtenga Aims for Cultural Triumph

Sandbondtenga: The Sandbondtenga province is preparing to participate ambitiously in the 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC), scheduled to take place in Bobo-Dioulasso from April 25 to May 2, 2026. Twenty-two years after the historic crowning of the artist Habibou Sawadogo, national grand prize of Arts and Letters (GPNAL) in the category of star of traditional song, the province intends to return to glory.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Ahmed Ouedraogo, stated that preparations are well advanced. The cultural ambassadors received guidance, and the performing artists benefited from intensive training to enhance their technical skills. Rehearsals are continuing intensively to fine-tune their performances before departure.

'Through quality performances, we will show that Sandbondtenga is a resilient province. On the evening of the SNC, we hope to bring home at least three trophies to honor our cultural heritage,' he declared, supported by the artists who displayed the same determination.

Diallo Sadou, head of the Suudu Baba troupe in Korsimoro, assures that the members of his troupe are working hard to be up to the task of this great event. For his part, Sayouba Mande, a member of the Sougr Meta orchestra, is aiming for the podium. "We want to be among the best, if not the first," he stated.

In the culinary field, candidate Linda Nana, a student at the Kaya University Center, also says she is ready. "I am motivated, focused, and determined to give my best. I can say that I am ready," she confided. They are all calling for the mobilization of the population of Sandbondtenga. "We invite the population to believe in us, to support us morally and materially," pleaded Sayouba Mande.

At the close of the Kaya 2025 Regional Culture Week (SRC), two troupes from the Sandbondtenga province were recognized in the performing arts: the Sougr Meta orchestra and the Suudu Baba troupe, specializing in traditional songs. Three artists, all students from the University Center of Kaya, were also recognized in the culinary arts.

This 22nd edition of the SNC promises to be an opportunity for Sandbondtenga to write a new glorious page in the country's cultural history.
