aSourou: The Boussougoula association organized a sanitation day on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the pediatrics of the Medical Center with surgical unit (CMA) in Tougan, in order to prevent malaria at the beginning of this rainy season. Armed with machetes and various cleaning equipment, the members of the association gave a new look to the pediatrics department of the CMA on the morning of Saturday, May 2, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the association's president, Boubacar Banazaro, stated that the activity aims to provide a healthy working environment for CMA staff, who perform critical tasks daily. He emphasized the importance of the initiative due to the onset of the rainy season and the number of children with malaria recorded, noting that improving sanitation in the pediatrics department could significantly reduce cases.
Bernard Zongo, the CMA's health promotion and hygiene officer, representing the district medical officer, expressed approval of the association's efforts. He noted that cleanliness is integral to quality care, underscoring the role of hygiene in promoting effective medical services.
Mr. Zongo also mentioned the Boussougoula association's history of similar efforts, highlighting that the group has previously conducted comparable activities in other health centers across the city.
