Sourou: The High Commissioner of Sourou Province, Desire Badolo, called on all residents of the province, during the monthly flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to act as citizens committed to the ideals they uphold. The ceremony took place in the presence of administrative authorities, defense and security forces, and representatives of the province's civil society.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the monthly flag-raising ceremony was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in Tougan, organized by the Provincial Directorate of the National Police for the month of February. Following the ceremony, High Commissioner Desire Badolo urged participants to adopt patriotic behavior, befitting the ideals upheld by the Burkinabe people in the current context of a progressive popular revolution.
"Patriotism is the source of sacrifice for the very reason that it expects no recognition when it fulfills its duty. The true patriot is not concerned with the position he will hold in the nation, but with the rank the nation will attain among the nations," he stated.
Mr. Badolo emphasized that the nation's best interests must always take precedence over personal interests. "When the country is attacked, everyone must unite to defend it, because without this country, who you are and what you do is meaningless," he added. He also commended the national police and all the armed forces for their daily work in retaking and securing the province.
On this occasion, the provincial director of the national police in Sourou, Adama Helou Sagnon, announced that the province has just received a new Republican Security Company (CRS), which will be based in Tougan and will cover the entire provincial territory.
