Southwest: Launch of an Initiative to Acquire a New Ambulance for the Gaoua Fire Brigade

Dano: The governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, launched in Dano an endogenous initiative to provide the 15th Fire and Rescue Company (CIS) of the National Fire Brigade of Gaoua with a second ambulance. The announcement was made on the occasion of the first rotating raising of the national colors organized in the provinces of Dj´r´, on February 2, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the acquisition of this ambulance aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of firefighters facing numerous demands. Mr. Barro indicated that the Dj´r´ region, bordering Ivory Coast and Ghana, is an important crossroads with many traffic accidents. "This geographical situation means that we record many accidents and this company is in high demand. Yet, it currently only has one ambulance," he explained.

He noted that, during interventions, the repeated rotations of the only available vehicle do not promote a rapid response to all victims, who often arrive too late. That is why, together with all the people and key stakeholders in the region, he launched this initiative to acquire a second ambulance for the fire brigade within three to six months during the year 2026.

Mr. Barro invited the provincial high commissioners, the departmental prefects, the regional directors, the customary and religious authorities, the civil society as well as the defense and security forces (FDS), as well as the sons and daughters of Dj´r´, to organize themselves to ensure the success of this endogenous initiative. "The purchase of this ambulance will be our contribution to Burkina Faso and the Dj´r´ region, and will help save lives," concluded Siaka Barro.

The 15th Fire and Rescue Company of the National Fire Brigade was officially inaugurated in Gaoua on March 13, 2025. It covers the four provinces of the Dj´r´ region.
