Special Delegation of Toussiana Revives Housing Development Dialogue

Toussiana:HOUET The President of the Special Delegation of Toussiana, C©cile Zabsonr©/Dabon©, convened a meeting on September 26, 2026, bringing together customary chiefs, landowners, civil society actors, and local residents to evaluate the land allocation process that began in 2012 and to craft a new roadmap for its continuation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the town hall's main meeting room was filled for the assembly, which focused on a land issue unresolved for over a decade. Historical housing developments in 1982, 1995, and 1997 proceeded smoothly, but efforts between 2010 and 2012 stalled due to stakeholder disagreements.

The 2012 initiative included census and boundary surveys in areas like Toussiamba Mission and the train station but faced challenges over boundaries, land claims, and administrative issues. C©cile Zabsonr©/Dabon© emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding, stating, "We are not here to force people to accept the subdivision. Everything must proceed courteously."

San Honor© Ouattara, president of the land commission, highlighted the projects importance for municipal development, noting the impact on youth and the necessity of advancing housing development in Toussiana.

Participants generally supported the process, urging transparency. Landowner Fran§ois d'Assise Ouattara stressed resolving ongoing grievances before proceeding.

The meeting resulted in reorganizing the consultation framework, establishing an ad hoc committee and a complaints management unit. The PDS appreciated the participation, noting that the consultation addressed several concerns, and encouraged maintaining calm and social cohesion.
