Ouagadougou: The population of the commune of Bama mobilized strongly on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, for a sanitation day dedicated to clearing gutters and cleaning the main roads of the city, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the inhabitants during this rainy season.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation was chaired by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the municipality, Flix Bay, and brought together local stakeholders. Youth associations and cooperatives, women's groups, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), as well as many citizens, took part in the work, equipped with shovels, picks, brooms, and wheelbarrows.

The activity was coordinated by Sofa Hien, Head of Security, Hygiene, and Environment of the presidential initiative Faso Mªbo in Bama. It also received technical and logistical support, including the provision of heavy machinery to facilitate the work.

The teams focused on clearing gutters that were blocked by sand and debris. This effort restored the normal flow of rainwater and reduced the risk of flooding in several areas of the municipality.

At the opening of the event, President Flix Bay commended the strong turnout of the local population and particularly congratulated the youth, women, and security forces for their civic engagement and patriotism. He urged residents to maintain the cleanliness of the sanitation facilities to prevent diseases and problems associated with stagnant water.

The event was secured by the National Gendarmerie and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), who ensured the smooth running of the operation throughout the day.
