Ouagadougou: The government of Burkina Faso has approved ten projects totaling 2.76 billion FCFA aimed at supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable communities. The projects were sanctioned by the Council of Ministers, focusing on recovery initiatives for IDPs, host communities, and other vulnerable groups.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the projects will address various needs including the establishment of simplified drinking water supply systems for IDPs, host communities, and returnees. Additionally, the initiatives will include monitoring and controlling infrastructure works, maintaining installations, acquiring construction kits, and renting storage facilities for food and non-food items.

The program will also cover the treatment and fumigation of storage spaces, procurement of computer equipment, refurbishment of Family Assistant Training Centers in Kalgondin, Kadiogo, and Dj´r´, and acquisition of rolling stock. The total budget of these projects is 2,760,696,681 FCFA, funded by the State budget for the 2026 fiscal year.

The minutes of the Council of Ministers indicate that these projects aim to enhance the care for IDPs, host communities, and other vulnerable populations. Additionally, there are plans to digitize stock management at the Permanent Secretariat of the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (SP/CONASUR) to ensure accurate tracking of inventory movements.
