“Top Vacances Culture Plus” Relaunched in Bobo-Dioulasso After Twenty-Year Absence

Ouagadougou: The Association for the Promotion of Cultural Expressions (AVEC) held a press conference on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso to announce the launch of the first edition of "Top Vacances Culture Plus," an event designed to promote artistic expression and civic education for young people. Scheduled from August 1 to September 15, 2026, the competition's theme is: "Youth, Culture, and Citizenship for a Peaceful and Sovereign Burkina Faso."

According to Burkina Information Agency, AVEC's project and partnership development manager, Fid¨le Dabir, explained that this initiative aims to provide young people with a platform for cultural expression. Dabir highlighted that "Top Vacances Culture," created in 1992, ceased operations for about twenty years. "Those of us on the board today are products of that venture. We therefore decided to revive it for the benefit of the people of Bobo-Dioulasso," he stated.

The president of AVEC, Isma«l N'Diaye, presented the program for this first edition. The program includes ballets, compulsory pieces and free performances, dramatizations of social issues, performances by artists, as well as various games and competitions.

For him, the event will contribute to the education of young people through culture and to the promotion of Burkinab¨ traditions, values, and cultural heritage. "The participating groups will allow the public to re-immerse themselves in our cultures and values," he maintained.

In total, nine groups will take part in the competition. The elimination rounds and semi-finals will take place at the Cin Sagnon, while the grand final is scheduled for the ThStre de l'Amiti in Bobo-Dioulasso.
