Ouagadougou:The spiritual guide of the International Sufi Community in Burkina Faso, Cheick Soufi Moaz Ouédraogo, has extended an invitation to individuals of all religious faiths to participate in a commemoration of Mawlid. This event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 9 p.m. in Tanghin, Ouagadougou, and is centered on the theme "Social Cohesion and Religious Tolerance."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the commemoration will focus not only on the birth of the Prophet Muhammad but also on promoting values such as love of neighbor, brotherhood, mutual understanding, and peace. The spiritual guide emphasized the importance of respecting and accepting individuals regardless of their religious, ethnic, or linguistic backgrounds.
The event aims to raise awareness about the necessity of mutual respect as a foundation for social cohesion and peaceful coexistence. Cheick Soufi Moaz Ouédraogo highlighted that religious differences should not hinder brotherhood among the people of Burkina Faso, who share a common humanity and nation.
The commemoration program includes awareness sessions, sermons, prayers, readings from the Holy Quran, and blessings for the nation and its people. Religious leaders will offer prayers and blessings to seek peace in the country, stressing that military efforts should be complemented by spiritual endeavors.
Prominent religious figures, sheikhs, and community members are expected to attend, sharing messages of tolerance and unity. The initiative is not intended as religious proselytizing but as a means to encourage collective mobilization for peace and coexistence.
The spiritual guide called for strong public participation to make the event a significant moment for social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
