Ouagadougou: FDS, VDP, and civilians of the urban commune Diapaga mobilized on Monday, August 24, 2026, on the bridge which connects the medical center with surgical unit (CMA) of Diapaga to the rest of the city, for the rehabilitation of the structure which has been showing signs of failure for some time.

According to Burkina Information Agency, following heavy rainfall in Diapaga this August, the waters have eroded the area around the bridge connecting sectors 01, 02, and 03 of the town to the Diapaga Community Health Center (CMA) and the village of Tontolbouli to the rest of the town. This threat of the bridge’s collapse raised the risk of isolation for certain areas of the municipality, according to Soali Ouali, first vice-president of the Diapaga special delegation.

Faced with the emergency, the special delegation launched an appeal to which the population responded enthusiastically. While awaiting government assistance, they initially contributed in kind, such as cash. They then mobilized to secure traffic, maintain the city’s food supply, and facilitate access to healthcare, AIB has learned.

This initiative has helped to promote social cohesion and strengthen ties between the defense and security forces, volunteers for the defense of the homeland, and civilians.
