The 2nd Edition of Buamu Sinh Cultural Expressions Days Announced for May 2026 in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou: The WE-Buamu association announced, during a press conference, the holding of the second edition of the Buamu Sinh Cultural Expressions Days, scheduled from May 8 to 10, 2026, at the Jean-Pierre Guingan Youth and Culture Palace in Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event will be guided by the theme "Buaba culture: peacebuilding and community engagement for a resilient Burkina Faso." This edition aims to promote the Buaba cultural heritage while contributing to social cohesion and the resilience of communities, as stated by the president of the association, Nabi Bi Yk.

This edition will introduce several innovations, including the promotion of a traditional basket called "konissien," which is traditionally used during mask outings and ceremonies but is now facing the risk of disappearing. Another significant development is the creation of a website to preserve and enhance the festival's data, featuring a digital museum.

Thodore Teby, the chairman of the festival's organizing committee, announced a range of activities planned for the event. These include a cultural and craft fair, artistic performances, mask dances, entertainment by traditional troupes, and panels for reflection on cultural and social issues.

Teby assured that the budget for the festival is well-prepared and considers all necessary aspects, while also acknowledging challenges related to resource mobilization. He appealed to partners and supporters to assist in the successful implementation of the event.

The WE-Buamu association, consisting of various communities like the Buaba and the Gourounsi, is dedicated to promoting Burkinab¨ culture. Through this initiative, it aims to provide a platform for expressing and transmitting cultural values to younger generations.
