Under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the province, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, the day was marked by a blood donation session, communications and sports activities.

Every year on August 12 the international community celebrates International Youth Day. This year, the theme chosen at the national level is “Strengthening the employability of young people living in rural areas and the fight against insecurity in Burkina Faso”.

The youth of Ganzourgou did not remain on the sidelines of this celebration. Gathered in the Zorgho youth center, they collected blood and were treated to a series of presentations on blood transfusion, civic-mindedness, citizenship, the contribution of young people to the fight against terrorism and entrepreneurship. .

For the High Commissioner, Ms. Aminata Sorgho/ Gouba, this year's theme calls on everyone to remain united in order to have the capacity to absorb disruptions and to reorganize to continue to function. For her, young people living in rural areas are faced with specific problems such as poor access to public services, low professional qualifications, low level of education, difficult access to means of production and climatic hazards.

For her, the relationship between citizenship, sport and youth empowerment can be a real factor of resilience in the face of the country's security challenges. She invited young people to develop initiatives in order to take full advantage of the institutional arrangements put in place by the State to support the financing of business plans.

The communication on citizenship was given by the inspector of primary education, Mr. Raogo Jean Claude Ouédraogo. For him, Burkina Faso is currently going through a deep citizenship crisis. He urged young people not to panic but to be resilient.

He clarified the concepts of citizenship, citizenship, tolerance, peace, culture of peace, social cohesion, violent extremism, terrorism, justice before declining the role of young people in the fight against terrorism and the reconquest of the territory. For him, Burkina Faso needs young people who are convinced, aware and willing to sacrifice themselves.

He urged young people to avoid indoctrination, distance themselves from fanaticism and think first of the interest of the nation. He invited them to be "Sankara" and to avoid easy gain in order to live with dignity. He encouraged them to collaborate with the FDS and enlist as VDPs.

The Provincial Director in charge of youth in Ganzourgou, Paweldgdé Sayouba Ouédraogo gave the young people a presentation on entrepreneurship. He invited them to be observers, to have the flair to come up with a business idea. He encouraged them to seek information, to train, to go into business, and to be engaged.

As for Dr. Pierre Ouédraogo, he made a presentation to young people on blood transfusion. According to him, the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) of Zorgho needs an average of 12 bags of blood per day while it only gains an average of 4 bags daily. He called on young people to donate blood regularly to save lives. On the field, 19 bags of blood were collected.

The day was also an opportunity to distribute trees to young people for planting at home or in any place where they can take good care of them. The day ended with an aerobics session followed by a volleyball match.
