Tougan Delegation Provides Substantial Food Donation to Support VDP Efforts

Sourou: The special delegation of the commune of Tougan handed over nearly 4 million FCFA worth of food to the communal Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in support of the efforts to reconquer the national territory.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation, valued at a total of 3,998,500 FCFA, consists of 150 bags of rice weighing 50 kilograms and 10 cans of oil weighing 20 liters. The president of the special delegation of Tougan, Ouigou Tiendr©b©ogo, stated that this initiative aims to support the actions carried out by the Fighting Forces in the context of the reconquest of the national territory.

Mr. Tiendr©b©ogo emphasized that Tougan has remained a fully functional commune despite the security situation, due to the commitment of the special delegation and the entire population. The ongoing reconquest operations are facilitating the gradual resettlement of several villages in the commune. He highlighted the duty to support these efforts.

He called upon the fighting forces to maintain their determination to achieve more results on the ground. Additionally, he acknowledged the contribution of economic actors, the media, and citizens who support local development through their tax payments. He encouraged further support, noting that several infrastructures have been damaged and require rehabilitation, while reconquest operations demand constant backing from the forces.

Sergeant Dieudonn© Bassono, representing the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude on behalf of the VDP and the Commando Infantry Regiment (RIC) towards the special delegation for the assistance provided to the fighting forces engaged in the national territory’s reconquest.

This donation was financed from the Tougan special delegation’s own resources. Previously, in January, the municipality had supplied the local VDP with combat equipment valued at 5,877,500 FCFA.
