Tougan Special Delegation Reviews Local Development Guidelines

Tougan:The special delegation of the municipality of Tougan convened for its third ordinary session of the year, focusing on budget orientation debates and major orientations of local development policy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session, chaired by the head of the special delegation, Ouigou Tiendrbogo, provided an opportunity for members to examine the local socio-economic context, trends in municipal finances, and to develop budgetary prospects for the municipality's development.

Encouraging developments in security were discussed, notably the recapture of several localities and the gradual resettlement of populations in various villages. There was also mention of an improving business climate, with increased commercial activity within the municipality.

Municipal finances showed positive signs with increasing own-source revenue. As presented by the Secretary General of the town hall, Paulin Yougbar, revenue rose from 29,995,656 FCFA in 2024 to 53,237,738 FCFA in 2025, reaching 91,390,940 FCFA by August 31, 2026. The special delegation plans to engage all its members in a strategy to further mobilize resources for local development.

Ouigou Tiendrbogo emphasized the need for a robust organization to enhance tax compliance and improve local revenue collection. The delegation is involved in drafting financial resolutions for taxes and collaborating with technical and financial services for effective collection.

Nabass Domba, representing NGOs, highlighted the importance of raising awareness among the population to promote tax compliance, stating that delegates must act as ambassadors to explain the necessity of supporting the municipal budget.
