Traditional and Religious Leaders Champion Sports and Cultural Initiatives in Dissihn CEB

Ziniar©: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Dissihn has officially launched its Organization for Sports and Cultural Activities in Primary Schools (OSCLEP), with a focus on fostering resilience through sports and culture. This year's theme, 'Sport and culture in primary school in a context of resilience: foundation of social cohesion and promotion of endogenous values', underscores the importance of these activities in the holistic development of young learners.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch ceremony was held at Korny¨gahn primary school and was attended by a wide array of stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and students. Soninuor M©da, head of the Dissihn Basic Education District, highlighted the strong community support and participation as evidence of the value placed on sports and cultural activities. He expressed gratitude to the Dissihn municipality's special delegation for their ongoing support and urged partners to continue their contributions to achieve meaningful outcomes.

This year's edition is distinctive due to the involvement of local community patrons, particularly traditional and religious leaders, who play a significant role in community education and the promotion of social and cultural values. The sponsors include the traditional chief of Dissihn, the parish priest of Saint Th©r¨se of the Child Jesus, the president of the Muslim community, and pastors from evangelical churches. Their representative applauded the initiative, emphasizing the vital role of sports and culture in a child's development and integration into society.

Gaoussou Hien, representing the special municipal delegation, praised the inclusive approach of selecting diverse community sponsors, reflecting a commitment to engaging all community segments in educational promotion. He commended CEB officials for involving mentors in this supportive role.

The launch event featured an exhibition match between school principals and their deputies, followed by a competitive match between Korny¨gahn School and Dissihn D School, which ended in a draw. The competitions will continue among the district's schools, with the final scheduled for May 2026.
