Ouagadougou: The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced plans for the 7th University Games of Burkina Faso (JUBF) during the Council of Ministers meeting. The event is scheduled to take place from June 21 to 28, 2025, in Fada N'Gourma.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event will be held under the high patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Head of Government. The theme for this edition is "Sport and culture in the university environment, a source of resilience and social cohesion." The games will bring together 1,150 students from over 30 public and private universities across Burkina Faso, who will compete in handball, football, volleyball, and basketball.
The event will also feature a range of activities, including a conference focused on the JUBF theme, performing arts competitions, and board games. In an effort to foster integration among the peoples of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), national centers of university works from Mali and Niger have been invited, with a view towards organizing future AES University Games.
