Tenkodogo: The Koulses region clinched the football trophy at the Union of School and University Sports of Burkina Faso (USSU-BF) under 17 years finals by defeating Nakambe 3-1. Despite this impressive victory, the Kadiogo region emerged as the overall champions by securing the most medals in the tournament.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Nakambe region, which hosted the final stages of the 52nd USSU-BF edition, initially took the lead by scoring the first goal. However, Koulses, showcasing better organization and strategic gameplay, managed to equalize just before the first half concluded. Returning with renewed energy after the break, Koulses scored twice more to solidify their win, with young talent Hamidou Sodre making a notable impression during the tournament.Hamidou Sodre expressed his delight at being recognized, stating, "I am very happy to have been spotted in this competition. I will work hard to progress further and become a great professional in the future."The Minister of Spor ts, Youth and Employment, along with two other ministers, attended the final match and praised the quality of the game. He acknowledged the efforts of the organizers and the participation of over 18,500 students from more than 450 secondary and vocational schools across Burkina Faso in the competitions.Beyond football, the event featured competitions in handball, volleyball, athletics, and wrestling. In the overall medal standings, Kadiogo secured the top position with 6 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Nazinon followed with 5 gold and 3 silver medals. Other notable performances included the Guiriko region with 2 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals, and the Bankui region with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals.The remaining rankings saw the Gulmu region in 5th place, Tannounyan in 6th, and Nando in 7th. Koulses, despite their football triumph, finished in 8th place in the overall medal tally. Nakambe, the football runners-up, placed 9th, followed by Yaadga in 10th, Djoro in 11th, and Oubri in 12th.
