Women’s Cycling Triumph: President Traoré Commends Burkina Faso’s Champions.

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, held an audience with the Etalons Cyclistes Dames, champions of the 4th edition of the International Women’s Cycling Tour of Burundi and the Grand Prix of the City of Bujumbura, on Thursday late morning. The meeting took place at the Koulouba Palace, where the team was led by the Minister of Sports, Annùuyirtole Roland Somda.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ladies Cycling Stallions uplifted Burkina Faso’s image through their performance at the event held from November 10 to 16, 2024. Cyclist Lamoussa Zoungrana clinched the yellow jersey, while her teammate Awa Bamogo won the Grand Prix of the city of Bujumbura. President Traoré expressed immense pride in their achievement, noting that the victory brought joy to the hearts of the VDP and the FDS who serve on the front lines.

Lamoussa Zoungrana, the yellow jersey winner, expressed gratitude towards the President and the government for their support in participating in the
Burundi Women’s Cycling Tour. Despite challenging terrain, the motivated women’s team secured the victory for Burkina Faso, driven by patriotism and commitment.

During the audience, President Traoré shared advice with the women cyclists, encouraging them to inspire their peers and continue their hard work. He also proposed the organization of a women’s tour to help the team prepare for future international competitions and ensure the national anthem continues to resonate on global stages.
