Burkina faso: The case involving Ye Yake Camille, Zongo/Hien Laure, and others is set for hearings on February 9 and 10, 2026, at the Specialized Unit for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses and Organized Crime of the High Court (TGI) Ouaga I, as reported by AIB on Friday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the trial session at the Ouaga I High Court commenced on January 23 and will run until February 10, 2026. The session is presided over by two chambers tasked with examining 28 cases in total. The proceedings are considered a continuation of the Hamidou Tiegnan case and involve charges against the defendants, including embezzlement of public funds, complicity in embezzlement, illicit enrichment, money laundering, and forgery of public documents.
This scheduling, also referred to as "Tiegnan 2," incorporates significant activities such as the fiftieth anniversary of the Barro project and allegations of corruption against magistrates at the Koupela High Court. The State's Legal Agent, Kalifa Gnanou, stated that the scheduling was intended to balance all interests, ensuring that no party could claim rights violations after the proceedings conclude.
Gnanou expressed his commitment to defending the State's interests in court and hoped the court would accept his arguments, allowing the truth to be established and the State to exercise its rights fully.
In addition to the Ye Yake Camille case, the session includes several other cases concerning the mismanagement of public funds, involving both public officials and private individuals managing public resources. The Camille Ye case was previously adjourned due to a constitutional challenge against provisions in the Code of Criminal Procedure, which limit defendants' rights to appeal investigating judges' orders.
