Bobo-dioulasso: On the sidelines of the 22nd National Culture Week (SNC), U-Report Bobo-Dioulasso, under the initiative of the Revolutionary Youth on the March, established a green brigade. This youth organization held a ceremony marking the launch of cleanup activities at SNC sites this Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the citizen initiative aims to provide a clean and welcoming environment for the many festival-goers expected for the SNC. Equipped with shovels, wheelbarrows, and other cleaning equipment, several young volunteers collected waste and cleaned up the area.
The ceremony's patron, Abraham Bila, praised the participants' commitment. He stated that when young people rise up with a strong sense of morality, it is the duty of their elders to guide them. He reminded everyone that thousands of visitors participate in the SNC, hence the need to ensure a clean environment. He invited young people to make this year's SNC a clean and participatory event.
The president of the U-Report club, Aristide Bienvenu Romuald Sanon, explained that this action reflects the African values of hospitality. For him, a responsible child doesn't leave the family home dirty when guests are present. He also announced the organization of tea-discussions for young people on the preservation of culture.
For the organizing committee, the SNC also rhymes with civic-mindedness, cleanliness, and collective responsibility.
