Zimtanga Municipality Supports Local Defense Volunteers with Essential Food Supplies

Bam: The municipality of Zimtanga provides food to its VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland). The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zimtanga, Fatou Zelvet, presided over the ceremony of handing over food to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Zimtanga in Kongoussi. This initiative was organized by the town hall and the communal coordination of women of Zimtanga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aims to support the VDP of Zimtanga engaged in the field and to facilitate the return of displaced populations. The first donation, provided by the Zimtanga town hall, consists of rice, millet, sugar, and other essential goods. Its aim is to support ongoing efforts to secure the area and facilitate the return of residents. Fatou Zelvet emphasized that the donation aligns with a call from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, for a patriotic surge.

A second donation was presented by the Zimtanga women's communal coordination, including rice, oil, sugar, and tea. The PDS welcomed the contribution from women and called for increased solidarity initiatives in support of the VDP.

Addressing the VDP, Fatou Zelvet delivered a message of encouragement, expressing moral support for their efforts. The spokesperson for the VDP expressed gratitude to the municipal authorities and the women's coordination committee of Zimtanga. He reaffirmed the volunteers' determination to secure the area and facilitate the resettlement of villages.

The Zimtanga women's communal coordination, led by Ms. Fatimata Ouedraogo, previously mobilized more than 250,000 francs in 2024 to support their VDP.
