Ziro: After more than three months of intense competitions and festive activities, the Basic Education District (CEB) of Sapouy officially closed on Friday, at the Sapouy A school, its sports, cultural and leisure activities under the theme: "Sports and culture in primary school: a factor of cohesion and hope."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the morning was marked by the women's handball final, pitting the schools of Tiabien-Kasso and Lou against each other. At the end of a hard-fought match, the girls from Tiabien-Kasso won by 5 goals to 3, securing the coveted trophy.
Then, at 11:30 a.m., cultural activities followed with performances of traditional dances performed by the schools, to the applause of the audience. The highlight of the show was the grand football final, played between the schools of Poun and Kation. After a hard-fought match, it was on penalties that the school of Poun triumphed with a score of 3 shots to 0 for the opposing team.
The 53 participating schools were rewarded with prizes consisting of wheelbarrows, brooms, rakes, and other hygiene equipment, demonstrating the importance given to education, cleanliness, and citizenship. The finalist teams received trophies, sets of jerseys, balls, and financial envelopes.
The victorious Tiabien-Kasso school in women's handball and Poun in football were particularly honored. The winners of the different OSCEP zones and the CM2 class teachers whose Primary School Certificate success rate was greater than or equal to 80% in the past school year also each received a balloon as a reward for some and letters of congratulation for others.
For the Head of the CEB of Sapouy, Camille Diasso, this edition is a success. "The objectives have been achieved. The children expressed themselves, flourished, and showcased their talents. The major innovation this year was the introduction of women's handball in our schools, and it was a real success," he said.
The ceremony took place under the chairmanship of the Prefect, President of the special delegation of the Commune of Sapouy, under the patronage of Sakande Oumarou known as M'Bolo and under the co-patronage of Sakande Sadou.
