Zorgho: A promoter donates medical and technical equipment to the urban health center. Pharmacist Dr. Karim Kafando, owner of the Les 6 Bons pharmacy in Zorgho, donated a consignment of medical equipment to the Zorgho Urban Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) on Monday, April 20, 2026. The ceremony was held in the presence of the healthcare team, members of the management committee (COGES), and the representative of the district's chief medical officer.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation is valued at over one million five hundred thousand CFA francs and includes 20 mattresses covered with sky blue, hand sanitizer, pedal bins for offices, drum bins for the yard, gloves, and electronic blood pressure monitors. The donor, Dr. Karim Kafando, stated that this gesture was in response to a request made by the CSPS. He emphasized the importance of using the equipment appropriately and urged the community to maintain hygiene standards, particularly by avoiding littering on the center's premises.
The head nurse, Justin Konkobo, expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting that it would strengthen the healthcare system's capacity to provide care. He noted that this was not the first time the donor had contributed, and he emphasized the potential improvements in patient comfort and staff working conditions. Konkobo pledged to ensure rigorous management of the equipment.
Dr. Pierre Ou©draogo, the representative of the district medical officer, also conveyed his gratitude. He acknowledged the ongoing needs of healthcare facilities despite government support and encouraged others to contribute to the enhancement of technical infrastructure.
The Zorgho urban health center serves a population of over 35,000, with more than 3,500 consultations recorded monthly and over 20 serious cases treated. Center officials have identified insufficient equipment and hygiene issues as challenges.
Soumala David Simpor©, head of the COGES, indicated that the donation would help address some of these challenges. He assured that the community would ensure proper use of the equipment.
Local stakeholders have also advocated for accelerating the construction of the CSPS in sector 6 to alleviate congestion in the urban center.
