Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of Zoundwogo province, Julien Oudraogo, has urged the local population, civil forces, and various constituted bodies to gather in large numbers at Place de la Nation in Manga on August 27 to mark the closing ceremony of the provincial patriotic immersion program.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the call was made during the monthly flag-raising ceremony at the Zoundwogo Provincial Directorate of the National Police. Mr. Oudraogo emphasized the importance of welcoming young recruits as they complete their month-long training. The mandatory immersion program, which began on July 27, is set to conclude on August 27 at 9:00 AM. Mr. Oudraogo acknowledged the contributions made by the community in terms of donations, advice, and technical support, which have facilitated the program's success.
He encouraged continued support for the conscripts in the final days of their immersion, aiming to improve their training conditions. The High Commissioner expressed a desire to "fill the nation's square," suggesting that strong public turnout would serve as encouragement for the young conscripts. Such mobilization, he noted, would help to reinforce the benefits of the patriotic immersion.
During the ceremony, Abdoulaye Baguian, the acting provincial director of the National Police, presented a security report for August. The DPPN-ZNW recorded 11 traffic accidents, including one fatality, 13 cases of property damage, and four cases of assault. The police conducted 46 patrols as part of crime prevention efforts and have been running a helmet awareness campaign, "Head Shield," since August 17.
Mr. Baguian called on the public to report suspicious activities to the police via toll-free numbers 1010, 17, and 16, which are operational 24/7. Additionally, the High Commissioner invited the community to participate in the first Days of Excellence of the health district from August 27 to 29, aiming to recognize and support the efforts of health workers in enhancing the province's health system.
The ceremony concluded with updates on the organization of the Health Personnel Excellence Day and the High Commissioner's Cup final, presented by the chief medical officer of the Manga health district and the provincial director in charge of sports, respectively.
