Ouagadougou: The first edition of the Faso Mbo Holiday Camp, which brought together 525 young people from the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions, officially ended in Fada N’Gourma, with the naming of the “Toyiro” class, a name in the Bwaba language meaning “The future belongs to us”.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the graduation ceremony for 525 young people from the Faso Mbo Holiday Camp took place in the presence of the Governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, along with administrative, judicial, military, paramilitary, religious, and customary authorities, as well as the parents and supervisors of the campers.
Representing the Director General of Faso Mbo, the commander of the Faso Mbo Road Brigade in the Goulmou region, Lieutenant Inoussa Koutou, indicated that the initiative aimed to offer young people “a framework for training, discipline, sharing, and civic education.” He emphasized the acquisition of new knowledge, shared experiences, and the development of discipline, confidence, and responsibility among the participants.
Lieutenant Koutou commended the vision of the President of Faso, highlighting the preparation of Burkina Faso’s future through its youth. He urged the young participants to harness their ability to learn, think, work, and create, viewing these as essential tools for building the nation’s future. He also encouraged parents to continue reinforcing the lessons learned at the camp, emphasizing discipline, respect, solidarity, cleanliness, and a sense of duty.
On behalf of the sponsor, the commander of the 6th military region, Lieutenant-Colonel Boubacar Badijan, lauded the initiative led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, and acknowledged the support from Brigadier General Isma«l Ousmane Diawari, Chief of Staff to the President of Faso. He recognized the supervisors for their dedication and hard work, urging parents to continue guiding their children with integrity.
Governor Ram Joseph Kafando expressed appreciation for all contributors to the success of the ten-day training, particularly the military and civilian actors, supervisors, and supporters. Yentma Ouali, representing the campers’ parents, expressed gratitude to the initiators and supervisors and hoped for the continuation and expansion of the Faso Mbo Holiday Camp in the future.
The 2026 class, named “Toyiro,” reflects the responsibility bestowed upon this generation for the development of Burkina Faso. The campers received certificates of participation, and two individuals were recognized for their commitment to the training’s success. The ceremony concluded with a parade of the 525 young participants in front of the authorities, their parents, and supervisors, before the official declaration of the closing of the 2026 edition of the Faso Mbo Holiday Camp for the 6th military region.
