Ouagadougou: The Baskuy health district has launched a significant initiative to collect 100 blood bags to assist the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in their efforts to reclaim the territory. This initiative is also intended to support hospitalized patients in need, as announced by Dr. Ursule Bambara, Chief Medical Officer of the Baskuy Health District.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this blood collection drive is part of the national days of patriotic commitment and civic participation, as well as the first edition of the district's days of excellence. Dr. Bambara emphasized the importance of collecting these blood bags to aid both the combat forces and patients requiring medical attention.
The campaign is being supported by health district agents, the local community, community-based health workers, and religious and customary authorities. In conjunction with the blood donation drive, the district is also conducting a screening campaign for precancerous lesions across all health facilities in the Baskuy district. This cervical cancer screening initiative is aimed at prevention and early detection to promote health and well-being among women and girls.
Alidou Ou©draogo, a blood collector at the National Blood Transfusion Centre, expressed his appreciation for the public's enthusiasm toward the blood donation operation. He praised the Baskuy health district's initiative for its life-saving potential and encouraged other health districts to organize similar blood collection events.
One of the blood donors, Eug¨ne Ou©draogo, shared his pride in participating in the operation, highlighting its potential to provide significant relief to the FDS and VDP. Additionally, on Thursday, the Baskuy health district conducted an immersion visit to the Grand Chancellery to understand its operations and missions better.
