Orezone Bombor© Hosts Critical Session on Mining Title Management in Ganzourgou

Ganzourgou: The Mogt©do town hall meeting room was the venue for the second session of the year of the Communication and Social Dialogue Committee (COCODIAS) of Orezone Bombor© SA, held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The session, chaired by the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, concentrated on the management of mining titles.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ousseni Derra, CEO of Orezone Bombor© SA, opened the proceedings with gratitude for the participants' dedication and highlighted the significance of the discussions in facilitating a better grasp of mining regulations. He also extended his thanks to the authorities for their continued support in the project's execution.

In her address, COCODIAS President Aminata Sorgho/Gouba underscored the value of the consultation framework established to foster dialogue among the mining company, government, local authorities, community members, and civil society organizations. She stressed the role of COCODIAS as a catalyst for local collaboration, transparency, and harmonious stakeholder relationships, urging participants to engage with openness, objectivity, and accountability.

The session's theme, "Mining Title Management," was selected due to the challenges the company faced in its exploration activities. As explained by Alira Analira, the mine's Director of Environment and Community Relations, the objective was to disseminate reliable and transparent information from the supervisory ministry regarding the rights and responsibilities tied to exploration permits. This initiative aimed to assure communities of the legality of exploration activities on their lands.

Boukary Wobgo, head of the technical and financial department of the Permanent Secretariat of the National Technical Commission for Mines and the Mining Development Fund, delivered a technical presentation. He elucidated the governance of exploration and exploitation permits under Law No. 016-2024/ALT of July 18, 2024, and discussed allocation procedures, rights, and obligations of permit holders, stressing the importance of community respect, operational transparency, and facilitating dialogue through administrative channels.

Seydou Passer©, a representative of Mogt©do V4, praised the session's conduct and urged the population to have confidence in the authorities, asserting that their decisions serve the general interest.

The COCODIAS session successfully enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened dialogue between the mining company and its stakeholders.
