Sandbontenga/Disabled Cycling Race Showcases Remarkable Performances Ahead of Fraternity Cup Final

Sandbontenga: As part of the 4th edition of the Fraternity Cup, a cycling race dedicated to people with disabilities took place on August 16, 2025, over a 4.9 km course. The event was an opportunity to highlight the spirit of solidarity and inclusion of people with disabilities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the cycling race for people with disabilities, a prelude to the final of the 4th edition of the Fraternity Cup, took place on Saturday, August 16, on a 4.9 km circuit in the town of Kaya. It was a powerful moment of commitment and self-improvement, with the participation of 15 riders, including 8 women.

Barry Nikailou, bib number 24, was the first to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 12 minutes and 15 seconds, with an average speed of 19.23 km/h. On the women's side, Odile Ou©draogo, bib number 10, was the first woman to complete the course with an average speed of 18.84 km/h. The most deserving runners received special prizes, and the final 11 participants were honored with incentive prizes.

For the event's promoter, Compaor© Hamado, known as Tagui, this competition has a symbolic significance. "By involving people with disabilities, we are in keeping with the spirit of the Fraternity Cup, which promotes social cohesion," he explained.
