Doha: Taking advantage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, former Burkina Faso striker Moumouni Dagano visited his very first Qatari club, Al Khor SC, on Wednesday, a decade ago.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Dagano, a former Stallions striker, is currently supporting his younger brothers in their quest for victory. He took some downtime to retrace his steps in Qatar by visiting Al Khor Sporting Club, located in the city of Al Khor.
'It was my former club captain, currently the sporting director, who called me yesterday to tell me that he knows I've played for five clubs here, but you have to visit your first club before the others. And he came to pick me up around 4 p.m. so we could go there,' Dagano shared. He recounted receiving a warm welcome, mentioning that the current president, the younger brother of his former president, was present.
Dagano reminisced about spending seven to eight years in Qatar, during which he won the national championship and played in a Qatar Emirate Cup final. He expressed his honor in returning to the country, recalling his prolific goal-scoring that impressed even Qatari journalists.
The Stallions' top scorer explained that it had been ten years since his last visit to his previous club and noted the significant changes that had occurred. Dagano plans to visit other clubs during the week as there are many projects in the pipeline. He emphasized the importance of supporting the U17 Stallions, who are set to play a crucial match against Italy.
Dagano's career in Qatar included playing for Al Khor SC from 2008 to 2010, then moving to Al Sailiya from 2010 to 2011. He returned to Al Khor SC from 2011 to 2012, played for Lekhwiya in 2012, then again for Al Sailiya from 2012 to 2014, followed by Al-Shamal from 2014 to 2015, before finishing his career at Qatar SC from 2015 to 2016.
