Kazan: Representatives from 10 African news agencies, as part of a TASS-Africa international tour, visited Kazan Federal University in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan on Wednesday. The media professionals learned that 2,400 Africans are studying there in various research fields as part of its cooperation with the continent.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Timirkhan Alichev, Vice-Rector for External Relations at Kazan Federal University, stated that the institution has hosted 13,000 international students from 102 countries, including 2,400 African students. He also informed journalists of the presence of a branch of the University in Egypt, which hosts nearly 2,000 students.
"Foreign students are admitted to our University in two ways. Either they obtain scholarships from our diplomatic missions, or they enroll based on their qualifications and pay tuition fees," explained the Vice-Rector for External Relations of the University, Timirkhan Alichev. Mr. Alichev reassured that their relations with African partners are excellent and that even ambassadors come to meet their nationals studying at the University.
It is worth noting that Kazan Federal University is a prestigious institution of higher learning that has produced many great scientific figures and their major discoveries. The University has also produced illustrious students such as Vladimir Lenin, the Bolshevik revolutionary, ideologue, communist theorist, and Russian statesman, as well as Leo Tolstoy, the writer and author of several masterpieces, including "War and Peace."
