Ouagadougou: The Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, announced that his department achieved a 95.30% completion rate on its performance contract by December 31, 2025. This announcement followed the evaluation of his performance contract on Monday, February 2, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the evaluation focused on several key actions aimed at enhancing security in Burkina Faso. These actions included strengthening the operational capacities of police and gendarmerie forces, intensifying efforts against organized crime through Operations 'Wibga' and 'Ladeli,' and improving access to administrative documents like national identity cards and AES cards. Additionally, reforms aimed at good governance were evaluated.
Mahamadou Sana highlighted the importance of citizen participation in securing the territory, improving road safety, and integrating information systems to detect malicious individuals and suspicious objects. These steps are part of the comprehensive measures undertaken by the ministry to bolster national security.
The minister further noted that following the assessment, guidance was received from the Prime Minister, emphasizing the continuation of reforms, intensification of crime-fighting efforts, and enhancement of wildlife, forest, and fisheries resource management. This guidance aligns with the recent government restructuring, which has placed the Water and Forestry Corps under the Ministry of Security's purview.
