Poni: The regional coordination of the National Confederation of Culture of Dj´r´ organized a night of tribute on Saturday in Gaoua in memory of the late ‹€ ve Carole Mariam Rassa Yamwemba, regional director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, who died on January 1, 2026, and was buried on January 3 in Ouagadougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was held in the multipurpose hall, in the presence of the governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, a delegation from the ministry in charge of Culture, administrative, military, customary and religious authorities, as well as the family of the deceased, her collaborators, and many cultural actors. In the morning, a requiem mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in Gaoua for the repose of her soul.
The president of the regional coordination, Mamadou Traor©, stated that the initiative arose from the desire of cultural stakeholders to pay tribute to an individual who contributed significantly to the development of culture, tourism, the arts, and communication in the region. He expressed the cultural community's condolences to the bereaved family, emphasizing that this collective effort was a message of comfort and a tribute.
Governor Siaka Barro paid tribute to the memory of a servant of the state, a woman of vision and leadership, who impacted the cultural and tourism sector, notably through the organization of the 2025 Regional Culture Week in Gaoua. He invited those present to pray for the repose of her soul and to continue the work she had begun.
Testimonies from the family portrayed the deceased as a courageous, disciplined, and humane woman, while her colleagues praised a leader devoted to public service, leaving a legacy of commitment and integrity. On this night of tribute, the cultural actors of Dj´r´ reaffirmed their desire to perpetuate the work and values of the late ‹€ ve Carole Mariam Rassa Yamwemba in service to Burkina Faso.
