Boulgou: Catholic faithful in Zabr©, in the Boulgou province (Nakamb© region), gathered for their annual pilgrimage on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Sangou, located less than 10 kilometers from the town. Father Jean Denis Ilboudo, parish priest of Saint Th©r¨se of the Child Jesus in Zabr©, urged Christians to 'be salt and light' during the event.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the pilgrimage was held under the theme "To be rooted in Christ and to be missionaries of hope," attracting many faithful who came to reflect and pray for peace and social cohesion. In his homily, Father Ilboudo reminded the congregation of the importance of being "salt and light" to truly root themselves in Christ. He explained that "salt exists only for the food in which it is placed, and light exists to illuminate the world," emphasizing that the Christian life finds meaning in service to others.
Father Ilboudo also offered prayers for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), acknowledging their efforts to maintain peace and safety. He asked for blessings, strength, courage, and victory for them, while honoring those who protect the community at great personal risk.
The event saw participation from administrative and traditional authorities. Alain Boubi© Bassono, the prefect and president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zabr©, expressed gratitude to the religious groups, especially the Catholic community, for their prayers for the nation and the security forces. He noted the presence of the Muslim community alongside the Catholics as a significant gesture of unity and social cohesion.
The celebration concluded with a session of adoration, marking the end of the pilgrimage.
