Ouagadougou: Jules Bazie publicly defended his master's thesis in mediation on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Private University of Management Sciences, Economics, Law and Technology Burkina Faso (UMET-Burkina), under the theme: "The Contribution of National Reconciliation Mechanisms to the Consolidation of Social Cohesion in Burkina Faso since 2020".
According to Burkina Information Agency, Jules Bazie emphasizes that in the face of the multidimensional crisis in Burkina Faso, national reconciliation is essential as a strategic lever for restoring trust between communities and citizens, and for sustainably consolidating social cohesion.
His work aims to examine the impact of national reconciliation mechanisms on social cohesion and how their implementation contributes to rebuilding the social fabric. The results of his research demonstrate that national reconciliation mechanisms contribute positively to fostering the creation of spaces for dialogue and mediation, through local dialogue committees, as well as the promotion of endogenous mechanisms such as customary mediation and joking kinship.
To consolidate the gains of national reconciliation, Jules Bazie proposed strengthening community ownership, ensuring effective institutional coordination, promoting the inclusion of women and young people, and developing participatory monitoring as well as anchoring endogenous mechanisms in the practice of mediation.
At the end of the presentation, the jury judged his work to be relevant and awarded him a grade of 16/20.
