Kenedougou/Religion: The New Imam Abdoul Aziz Barro Pledges to Serve with Humility, Fairness and Devotion

Kenedougou: The Vice-President of the Muslim Community of Western France, and also President of the Islamic League of Burkina Faso, El Hadj Amad Sanogo, presided over the installation of the new Imam, Abdoul Aziz Barro, at the Grand Mosque of Orodara. He pledged to serve with humility, fairness, and dedication.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in the presence of religious leaders, Muslim worshippers, and local authorities, Abdoul Aziz Barro, born April 19, 1982, was officially installed as the new imam of the Grand Mosque of Orodara. He succeeds El Hadj Sekou Sangare, who passed away in 2025.

The vice-president of the Muslim community of the Greater West region, and also president of the Islamic League of Burkina Faso, El Hadj Amad Sanogo, urged the new imam to dedicate his term to unity, wisdom, and respect for the principles of Islam. He encouraged him to work towards strengthening social cohesion, to prioritize dialogue, and to remain an accessible spiritual guide, attentive to the needs of the faithful.

According to El Hadj Amad Sanogo, the role of imam requires moral integrity, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility. The provincial president of the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina Faso (FAIB), Kenedougou branch, Idriss Traore, echoed this sentiment. He encouraged Imam Abdoul Aziz Barro to work closely with other religious leaders and to promote peace, within a national context that calls for solidarity and living together in harmony.

Abdoul Aziz Barro expressed his profound gratitude to the faithful for the trust placed in him. Aware of the heavy responsibility entrusted to him, the new imam acknowledged the magnitude of the mission that awaits him. He pledged to serve with humility, fairness, and dedication, while requesting the support and prayers of all the faithful for the success of his term.

It should be noted that Abdoul Aziz Barro is the fourth imam in the history of the Grand Mosque of Orodara.
