Nabadogo: A special rabies vaccination campaign has been launched in Nabadogo. The official launch took place in the presence of the prefect and President of the special delegation (PDS) of Sabou, Abdoul Aziz Koara, the provincial director in charge of animal and fishery resources of Boulkiemd©, Joseph Diender©, the veterinary services, and many people who came to have their animals vaccinated.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this campaign primarily targets dogs and cats, the main vectors for rabies transmission to humans. The towns of Nabadogo, Nariou, and Sabou are among the areas selected for the operation, which aims to improve vaccination coverage and reduce health risks within communities.
The Sabou Health Directorate (PDS) indicated that the commune has already recorded cases of rabies, emphasizing the need to strengthen awareness and prevention efforts. It urged pet owners to collaborate closely with animal health workers to ensure the systematic vaccination of domestic animals.
For his part, the provincial director of Animal Resources, Joseph Diender©, believes that this campaign will help limit the spread of a disease known to be fatal once symptoms appear. He commended the mobilization of the local authorities and the public's support for the initiative.
Residents have also expressed their commitment to vaccinating their animals in order to protect their families and neighbors from the risks associated with this zoonotic disease.
Following the ceremony, the special delegation from Sabou presented the vaccination teams with protective equipment consisting of cotton gowns and PVC safety boots. Local authorities consider this campaign a contribution to the national effort to prevent diseases transmissible between animals and humans.
