Poni: The Regional Directorate of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts of Djoro incinerated 33.940 tonnes of products unfit for consumption on Friday evening in Gaoua, withdrawn from the market following control operations carried out in shops, food stores, stores and at border posts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor of the Djoro region, Siaka Barro, stated that this action is part of economic control and the fight against fraud. He specified that these products, the consumption of which poses a risk to public health, were seized thanks to collaboration between the regional trade directorate and the defense and security forces.
The governor expressed appreciation for the commitment of the regional director of Commerce and all actors involved, including the defense and security forces and judicial services, for the results achieved. He also urged economic actors to comply with existing regulations to prevent the sale of prohibited products and warned that controls will continue and intensify throughout the region.
For his part, the regional director of Commerce, Souleymane Yoada, indicated that the seized products originate from markets, shops, and stores operated by certain economic operators. These items include pharmaceuticals, beverages prohibited for sale and consumption, commonly known as adulterated beverages, as well as various consumer goods such as soap and food products.
Mr. Yoada emphasized that the traders involved were sanctioned in accordance with applicable regulations, with fines, seizure and confiscation of goods followed by their destruction. He reaffirmed his department's commitment to ensuring consumer protection and cleaning up the local market.
According to regional authorities, this incineration operation reflects the will of public authorities to strengthen health security and to effectively combat commercial fraud in Djoro.
