The Planet of Young Pan-Africanists Unites Women for Revolutionary Dialogue in Banfora

Koupela: The Planet of Young Pan-Africanists (PJP), Tannounyan chapter, organized a panel discussion in Banfora on Saturday as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day. This meeting brought together numerous women, administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as military and paramilitary leaders, to discuss the role of women in the revolutionary dynamic and development of Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, several sub-themes were addressed during the panel discussion, including women's entrepreneurship, their contribution to social cohesion, and peacebuilding. The objective was to strengthen the participants' capacities and encourage their engagement in the current dynamic of transformation in the country.

The Governor of the Tannounyan region, Patrice Yeye, who chaired the meeting, welcomed the initiative and recalled the importance of women's involvement in the progressive popular revolution undertaken by the highest authorities in the country. He emphasized the revolution led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, is based on fundamental values, including sovereignty at all levels.

"As you know, we are engaged in a progressive popular revolution initiated by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. This revolution is founded on strong values, notably sovereignty at all levels. Today, we are here to support the women who are the driving force behind this revolution. Through this panel, the aim is to strengthen their capacities so that they can better support this dynamic of transformation," explained the Governor.

He also expressed his delight at the organization of the panel and congratulated the organizers. "We are delighted with the organization of this panel. This is an opportunity for us to congratulate the organizers and thank all those involved who worked so hard to make this event a reality," he stated.

The Governor expressed hope that the discussions would lead to concrete recommendations to promote women's participation in the revolution. "We hope that this panel will lead to strong recommendations and important decisions that will enable women to better support the ongoing revolution. Nothing can be achieved without women, without our wives and mothers. That is why we wanted to place them at the heart of our projects," he added.

The Commander of the 2nd Military Region and Arms Commander of the Bobo-Dioulasso garrison, LT Colonel Lassane Porgo, stressed that this panel aims to enable women to better understand the issues of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and to take an active part in it. He stated that the success of any revolution depends on collective commitment, particularly that of women who constitute an essential pillar of society.

This panel was initiated to enable women to better understand the foundations and objectives of the People's Progressive Revolution so that they can fully engage in it. Women play a crucial role in the transformation of society. As Captain Thomas Sankara said, without women, there is no true revolution. That is why it is important that they actively participate in building a sovereign, stable, and prosperous Burkina Faso, he stated.

For his part, the regional coordinator of the PJP in Tannounyan, Yacouba Traore, paid tribute to all women, particularly those in the Tannounyan region, for their courage, resilience, and commitment during this period marked by the security challenges facing Burkina Faso. "This morning, we wanted to bring together women, our mothers and sisters, to share and reflect together on their contribution to the quest for a peaceful and sovereign Burkina Faso. Who better than women to propose solutions for improving the living conditions of Burkinab¨ people and for consolidating peace?" he stated.

According to him, this forum also aims to identify the concrete contributions that women can make to strengthen security, stability, and above all, social cohesion in the country. The participants welcomed PJP's initiative, which provides a platform for women to exchange ideas and reflect on their role in building a united, stable, and sovereign Burkina Faso.
