Gold Miner Contributes 300,000 FCFA for Ambulance Repairs in Ioba

Burkina faso: A gold miner donates 300,000 FCFA for the repair of an ambulance. Gold miner B¨kouon¨ Wihisaan Robert Som donated 300,000 FCFA on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to help repair a broken-down ambulance at the Dissihn medical center in the Ioba province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation was made after an incident involving the admission of an injured man, who was accompanied by his uncle, B¨kouon¨ Wihisaan Robert Som, a gold miner from the village of V2 Walala in the commune of Gugur. The injured man required transfer to the Gaoua Regional Hospital Center (CHR), but the medical center's only functioning ambulance was already in use for another medical evacuation.

While awaiting the return of the operational ambulance, Mr. Som noticed another ambulance parked in the medical center's courtyard. Recognizing the challenges in managing emergencies, he decided to contribute 300,000 CFA francs for the repair of the broken-down ambulance.

The president of the special delegation of the commune of Dissihn, Benjamin Nana, and the chief physician of the medical center, Dr. Aziz Olivier Oudraogo, expressed their appreciation for this supportive gesture, which aids the healthcare efforts in the area.

The Dissihn medical center currently has three ambulances, of which only one is functioning. Efforts to repair the other two have involved mobilizing local resources, with financial contributions from the 26 villages in the municipality and the Health and Social Promotion Centers (CSPS).
