Bogande: The people of the Gnagna province participated on Saturday evening in Bogande in a collective breaking of the fast initiated by the Provincial Coordination of Women, with a view to promoting peace and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the banner of unity and fraternity among communities, bringing together Catholic and Evangelical Christians, Muslims, and followers of traditional religions. Participants gathered around a meal to break the fast, conveying a message of tolerance and cohabitation amid ongoing security challenges.
Ms. Bikienga Alice Lankoande, the provincial coordinator and a peace Amazon of Gnagna, spoke on behalf of the women of the province. She invited attendees to observe a minute of silence for the victims of terrorism and commended the people's mobilization. Lankoande emphasized the importance of customs and religions as the roots of society, urging community leaders to promote love, tolerance, and forgiveness to maintain national unity. Additionally, she called for increased grassroots awareness campaigns to consolidate peace.
The event also featured an interfaith prayer led by Father Mathieu Ouoba, the parish priest of Saint-Andre de Bogande, who prayed for peace and the strengthening of community cohesion.
Mendien dit Moussa Soma, Secretary General and representative of the High Commissioner of the province of Gnagna, praised the women's initiative as a civic act that contributes to strengthening social dialogue and solidarity. Organizers noted that the activity is part of ongoing local efforts to promote peace and coexistence within the province.
