Morocco Awarded AFCON 2025 Victory, Senegal Challenges CAF Decision

Dakar: The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has expressed strong opposition to the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to award Morocco the victory of the AFCON 2025 tournament. This decision comes despite Senegal's on-field victory, where they triumphed 1-0 after extra time.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the FSF released a statement criticizing CAF's ruling as "unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable," claiming it undermines the credibility of African football. The Senegalese governing body has announced plans to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

The controversy stems from CAF's Appeals Board decision to accept an appeal from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The board overturned a previous ruling by the CAF Disciplinary Board, citing procedural issues where the right of the Moroccan appellant to be heard was not respected during initial proceedings.

The FSF emphasized its commitment to integrity and sporting justice, vowing to keep the public updated on developments. CAF's announcement on Tuesday confirmed Morocco as the host and winner of the 2025 AFCON, replacing Senegal as the victor despite their on-field performance.
