Dori: On the occasion of the celebration of the Night of Destiny, on the night of Monday, March 16 to Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the imam of the great mosque of Dori, Elhadj Mamoudou Cisse, launched an appeal for tolerance and mutual respect between the different communities of Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Muslim worshippers from the Liptako region gathered at the great mosque of Dori, where they intensified readings of the Quran, prayers, invocations, and requests for forgiveness from Allah, marking one of the most sacred moments of the month of Ramadan.
Imam Cisse reminded everyone that the Night of Destiny commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad and highlighted its importance as mentioned in Surah Al-Qadr.
Beyond the spiritual dimension, Elhadj Mamoudou Cisse emphasized the need to strengthen social cohesion. He urged the people to cultivate tolerance and mutual respect, which he considers essential pillars of living together, while offering prayers for the return of peace and harmony to Burkina Faso.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of other religious faiths and administrative authorities. Father Jean Pierre Sawadogo, a priest in the diocese of Dori, expressed his solidarity with Muslim faithful, affirming that sincere unity between Muslims and Christians is an important lever for peace.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Liptako region, Auguste Kinda, welcomed this spirit of unity, believing that the unity of Burkinabe remains essential to achieving common aspirations of freedom and sovereignty.
Through this celebration, the Dori community has not only demonstrated the depth of its faith, but also its willingness to consolidate social cohesion in a national context marked by numerous challenges.
