Nahouri: The Secretary General of the Nahouri Province, Emile Hien, representing the High Commissioner of the Province, presided over the closing ceremony of the Nahouri Widows' Day activities on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Initiated by the Djoatina, Hope of Tomorrow association, the event provided an opportunity for the association to offer hope to women struggling to rebuild their lives after losing a loved one.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the day was centered around the theme "At the Heart of Pain, What Resilience Strategy for the Widow of Nahouri?" and marked the conclusion of the 5th annual Widow's Day. The event featured a women's cycling race called "The Fighter's Race," a community meal, and food sharing activities.

Kadoua Wetta/Abem, coordinator of the Djoatina association, highlighted that widows should no longer be seen as a burden but as pillars of the family who need support to rebuild their lives. She stressed the importance of strengthening income-generating activities to break the cycle of poverty faced by widows.

The patron, Hamza Binagabou, represented by Ali Bilgo, acknowledged the noble cause supported by the association. He pointed out that being a widow involves not only dealing with the absence of a loved one but also facing challenges such as loneliness, increased responsibilities, economic difficulties, and social incomprehension. Mr. Bilgo called on the community to support these women, emphasizing that resilience is rooted in community solidarity and access to education for orphans.

Emile Hien commended the association's leaders for their civic initiative, which allows women to unite in support of widows, offering emotional support and comfort to help them find meaning in life and move forward. The fifth edition concluded with organizers expressing satisfaction with the event's success, including the food distribution and shared community meal. The next edition is scheduled for the following year.
