Catholic Faithful in Gogo Observe Palm Sunday with a Call for Peace and Humility

Zoundweogo: Catholic faithful in Gogo celebrated Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of Holy Week. The Catholic faithful of the Saint Joseph Artisan parish in Gogo celebrated Palm Sunday, a day dedicated to strengthening Christian faith and promoting peace.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the faithful gathered from 25 villages of the commune to partake in this celebration, which signifies the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and the onset of Holy Week.

In his homily, Father Mathias Dondasse, the parish vicar, highlighted the significance of Palm Sunday in the Catholic Church's calendar. He noted, "Palm Sunday heralds the great celebration of Easter. For a whole week, the Church will relive the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. It teaches us that human life is made up of both joys and trials. By contemplating the life of Christ, we are called to cultivate humility in our actions."

Father Dondasse also encouraged the congregation to engage in charitable acts throughout Holy Week, such as visiting the sick and the elderly, while urging them to pray for peace in Burkina Faso.

During the announcements, catechist Konditamde urged the community to support the initial phase of the 3rd edition of the Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation Days (JEPPC), which began on March 26th. He specifically encouraged the consumption of local products and the wearing of Faso Danfani and Koko Dunda fabrics.
