Hounde: The provincial director of Sports, Youth and Employment of Tuy, Ousseni Pagbelem, officially launched the recreational games as part of the 3rd edition of the Social Cohesion Cup initiated by the Hounde mine at the Kieni stadium in Hounde.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event commenced with the inclusion of various recreational games alongside the football tournament. Enthusiasts of petanque, awale, and checkers began their competitions on the morning of the launch. This year, more than fifty teams are participating, with 17 teams in petanque, 16 in awale, and 19 in checkers.
Ousseni Pagbelem highlighted that the initiative aims to enhance community life, social cohesion, and fraternity among participants and the wider commune. He explained that the games will follow a format where teams initially play group matches followed by direct elimination phases.
The finals for all disciplines, including the football tournament, are scheduled for April 11, 2026. Pagbelem expressed gratitude to the teams and spectators for their participation, noting that the significant turnout reflects the strong community spirit in Hounde. He encouraged the local population to attend the grand final on April 11.
