Agricultural Actors Recognized for Their Performance and Commitment in Kourweogo

Kourweogo: Agricultural sector actors from the commune of Bousse were distinguished on April 9, 2026, during a ceremony organized by the NGO Nuru Burkina Faso (NBF), in the presence of administrative authorities, technical services, and development partners from the province of Kourweogo. This initiative aims to recognize the efforts made by producers and their organizations, who benefit from technical and material support from the NGO.

According to Burkina Information Agency, these actors were supported through training focusing on good agricultural practices, cooperative management, compost production and use, access to climate information, as well as the economic management of farms and the development of income-generating activities. Gortirbou Souleymane Ouedraogo, the monitoring and evaluation officer of Nuru Burkina Faso, stated that the ceremony celebrates the commitment of the producers and the collaboration of the local authorities in implementing the activities. "This is about commending the consistency of efforts and encouraging the continuation of good practices," he said.

A total of eight farmers' organizations benefited from this support, with awards given based on criteria such as yield, economic performance, quality of governance, innovative practices, and community engagement. In the category of collective awards, several cooperatives stood out. The Wend la Konta cooperative from sector 3 of Bousse was awarded for the best yield (368.266 kg/ha) and the best economic performance (more than 90% repayment in the cooperative's coffers). The Teega Wende cooperative from the village of Sao was recognized for its best peanut production (2,843 kg), and the Teeleb Zanga cooperative from Kinana was acknowledged as the most innovative and a model of governance.

On an individual level, several producers received awards for their results. Sibdou Ouedraogo, a soybean processor from the Namalgzanga cooperative in Zan, and Ninda Tapsoba from the Wend la songda cooperative in Koui, recognized as the best peanut producer with a yield of 948 kg/ha, were among the awardees. Kadidiatou Kinda from the Tegawende cooperative in Sao was distinguished as the best local facilitator (CFA).

Resource persons and institutional partners, including the Special Delegation, agricultural technical services, and community leaders, were honored for their commitment to facilitating support for NBF. Sibdou Ouedraogo expressed gratitude to the NGO for the support received, highlighting that it enabled her to increase and diversify her production, thereby improving her income and supporting her school-aged children. Kadidiatou Kinda illustrated the determination of women in the community by explaining her efforts to understand and share training content despite not having formal schooling.

Elie Sawadogo, representative of the Tind Yalgre Association (ATY), praised Nuru Burkina Faso's approach, which is based on synergy among development stakeholders. Rodrigue Loboue, the provincial director of Agriculture, congratulated the award winners and encouraged them to share best agricultural practices with other producers, thereby strengthening local initiatives to address the sector's challenges. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the equipment received by the cooperatives to ensure the sustainability of empowerment initiatives.
