Tuy/HGO Social Cohesion Cup: Sector #4 Wins the Trophy for the 3rd Edition

Hounde: Sector No. 4 of the commune of Hounde clinched victory on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Kieni stadium, securing the 3rd edition of the Social Cohesion Cup organized by Hounde Gold Operation (HGO). They triumphed over Sector No. 5 with a decisive score of 4-0.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the football competition, which commenced on February 13, 2026, featured 18 teams from five sectors and 13 villages within the Hounde commune. The final match saw Sector 4 and Sector 5 vying for the title, drawing a significant crowd. The match highlighted forward Adama Compaore of Sector 4, who scored twice in the first half. In the second half, Oumar Kizambo furthered Sector 4's lead by successfully converting two penalties, securing their third trophy in this event.

In addition to the trophy, Sector 4 was awarded one million FCFA, gold medals, a set of jerseys, and two balls. Sector 5, the runners-up, received 700,000 FCFA, silver medals, a set of jerseys, and two balls. The Kari team, finishing third, was given 500,000 FCFA, bronze medals, a set of jerseys, and two balls. Meanwhile, the Boho Kari team, in fourth place, received 300,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and two balls. The fair-play award went to the village of Bouende, accompanied by a prize of 100,000 FCFA.

This edition featured recreational games like petanque, awale, and checkers, with winners in these categories also receiving awards. The CEO of HGO highlighted the initiative's aim to foster social cohesion through unifying activities in the mining areas. He welcomed the enthusiasm and the inclusion of recreational games, announcing plans to introduce women's competitions in the future.

Ousseni Pagbelem, the chairman of the organizing committee and provincial director of sports, youth, and employment for Tuy, commended the competition's smooth execution. He noted that the matches were conducted without major incidents, maintaining a spirit of camaraderie and fair play.

Ouande Sylvain Domboue, the representative of the sponsors and former Secretary General of the Ministry of Mines, praised HGO for its dedication to fostering solidarity through sports. He expressed his aspiration to see the emergence of a competitive football team in the Tuy province.

High Commissioner of Tuy Province Issiaka Segda lauded the initiative's significance, emphasizing that the competition enhances values of solidarity, fraternity, and tolerance, while bolstering social cohesion and community spirit.
