3,077 Health Workers in Burkina Faso Pledge to Serve Without Discrimination

Ouagadougou: The "Health Workers, Servants of the People" graduating class from Burkina Faso's National School of Public Health (ENSP) has pledged to serve the community with dedication and integrity. A total of 3,077 health workers, part of the 2025 graduating class, took an oath during a ceremony held in Ouagadougou. The event was overseen by Professor Benilde Ange Marie Kambou, representing the Minister of Health.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the graduates swore to apply their knowledge to alleviate suffering, preserve life, and uphold professional secrecy. Professor Kambou emphasized that the ceremony's theme, "commitment through competence for health sovereignty," is a crucial political directive and a call for ethical action. She highlighted the importance of rigorous training, excellence, and commitment to achieving health sovereignty.

Professor Kambou urged the new health officers to prioritize discipline, integrity, and humanity. She clarified that the class name is a commitment rather than an honorary title, emphasizing duty over personal comfort and ethics over ease. The Ministry of Health, she noted, is committed to supporting these professionals in their roles.

The Director General of ENSP, Professor Edgar Ouangre, congratulated the graduates and reminded them that their responsibilities are just beginning. He stressed the importance of preserving life and providing comfort to patients and their families.

Professor Charlemagne Ouedraogo, the ceremony's sponsor, encouraged the new agents to uphold their training, oath, and the values of the health profession. He pointed out that the class name signifies placing the interests of patients and the community above personal gain.

Among the successful graduates, midwife Sama Justin expressed joy at completing the intensive three-year training. He views this milestone as the start of a commitment to overcoming current challenges. The class, divided into 16 streams, achieved a success rate of 97.90%, with 3,077 students passing the national certification exam out of 3,143 candidates.
